As part of my internship I will be blogging to keep a record of everything am working on. Right now there is some pretty exciting stuff that Brandon and I are working on. The Hub is a community development studio in the Cannonborough-Elliotborough area that Brandon and his two partners, Rich Estes and Matt Grayson have put together.
The hub concentrates on sustainable building practices so I have been doing a lot of research on the Charleston Green Plan and attending meetings. Part of my internship requires me to attend Green Committee meeting as well as Neighborhood Association Meetings and report to Brandon. We will be recording these meetings and uploading the videos to the hub’s website when it is developed and posting them on my Blog. The grand opening is set to occur sometime in mid March so right now there is a lot of marketing work that I have started doing. I have created a grassroots marketing plan that consists of mass mail-outs, phone calls, house to house visits and flyer drop-offs, a soft opening, an interview series with local businesses, and a grand opening. For this marketing plan I have written the first introduction letter that I will be sending out to the residence of the Cannonborough-Elliotborough area.
The interview series is what I have been concentrating on mostly because The Hub studio is not quit finished yet and we don’t want people looking at an unfinished project. I am going to be uploading some of these videos to my blog soon. Brandon and I are also working on putting some short sale packages together on Sulivan’s Island and Isle of the Palms, SC. This is the only part of the Internship that brings in any paper for me so that will be my main concentration. I have also put together a spread sheet of over 150 target properties within the Cannonborough-Elliotborough area that could be possible good redevelopment projects. This spread sheet shows owner information, pictures, registered agent contact information, and a target grading scale among other information.
