52.5 Records: Battling Local Chain Retailers

52.5 Records startred as a small record store that opened at 52.5 Wentworth Street in 1997 with 500 square feet of store space.  It out grew the space and move to 561 King Street in 2006 and has been a huge part of the music industry in Cannonborough ever since.  At 52.5 Records they have strong corporate culture that revolves around the music and not the money and coincidentally this has allowed them to compete with large chain retailers such as Best Buy, Target, and Wal-Mart.   Read More…

 

Trattoria Lucca; Bringing Tuscany to Chucktown

Trattoria Lucca is located at 41 bogard street in the heart of the Elliotborough neighborhood.    The restaurant is ran by Head Chef, Ken Vedrinski, who has found his passion for Italian cuisine through cooking in his grandmother’s kitchen under her passion-infused, Italian-influenced tutelage.  Vedrinski was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University which is evident if you have had a chance any one of his amazing dishes. Mia Pomodori is owned by Paul DeSantis, a native of Brooklyn, NY who knows pizza.  He grew up watching his mother cook which fostered his love for cooking.  His parents were immigrants of Bari, Italy who came to the States and brought some amazing recipes with them.  DeSantis puts his heart and soul in every pizza he makes and if you have ever tried his pizza you can believe it.   Read More…
